Am I ashamed, or am I proud?

82%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

Created by OnePlusYou - Free Online Dating

I little bit of both. Actually, I was shocked to see 82%. I'd gone through comments of another avid blogger who hit heights of 61%, and I was assuring myself that I would falter behind at a mere 45-50% addiction.
But when I took the test I realised that it maps not merely self's blogging, but related habits too.
Go, on try it here and surprise yourself.

Home

The association of 'home' is restricted to my childhood memories of peeping out of the window, watching the sun glisten on the mango leaves and the increasing racket by the well-hidden crows that assembled at sundown to exchange gossip of the day.

The din wore down slowly and I would be lulled into the little kitchen which wafted with the smoke of sputtering rai seeds and red chilly which always caused a series of sneezes, and amused me as much as my brother. Either of us would deftly climb the kitchen table top to open the sliding window which opened into the passage and wave an excited ‘hello’ to friends playing there. Mom would look up knowingly as I pleaded with my eyes to go out and play. “OK, but not more than 20 minutes. Then I will call you for dinner,” was the standard permission granted.

There was nothing like ‘dressing up’ to play. I would be in my white petticoat which had fat straps on each shoulder and a filigree of a zigzag pink piping and bloomer underpants.

‘Sunday Monday’ was our favourite game as we could jump a lot and I liked it since my nimble and long limbs virtually guaranteed that I hardly got the ‘den’. Another favoured game was Crocodile, where you were addressed based on the lack colour in your clothes. This was restricted to weekends where we wore fancier ‘home clothes’, taking particular care to wear objects of different colours.

The group would start diminishing as each of us got called back to our flats for dinner. Sweating, crusted with dust and grime, I would run breathlessly to the bathroom and emerge few minutes later, spic and span in my nightdress with a huge grin, usually with one tooth missing at someplace in the jaw. The first officially began once mom and dad had placed the first morsels in each others mouths. A parent between the rugrats at all points during the meal ensured no fights on who pushed boring food over to the other’s side, and why either got a smaller portion of the things we liked.

This is an incomplete post, my has welled me with too many memories to continue right now.

Why do I blog?

Umm...I have often answered this question (without people actually asking me!). I blog because I like to write, and I have a vivid imagination (un)backed with a poor memory. So all the interesting things which happen in my life fall off into the black hole of forgotten memories unless I manage to log them down here.
Another reason is I find blogging a good way to broadcast to my friends what I am up to. Especially now that I am far away in this no-man's land. Any place you can't dance (even villagers in our country have this freedom) and are kicked out from the restaurant at 10.30pm, isn't fit for human habitat. And they call it a city! So, I have enough and more to crib about. This keeps people on an alert about when I am down & out, where I have been galavanting and what I plan to do next.
My yakking also gives them the opportunity to give their 2-bit of advice, which I may add, falls to deaf ears on most occassions (and there I was accusing someone else of the same offence).
Another reason for me to continue blogging is the stray comment from strangers and acquaintances. Like every other blogger, I bask in the glory of the fact that people are reading and I am prodding them enough to get a reaction.
Today, I found this excerpt. Turns out, blogging is good for my well-being too! Yay!

Blog Pooper

Although I have begun blogging regularly only recently, I read blogs of a broad spectrum [work, leisure, diaries etc] with voracious interest. There is a certain blogger's meanderings I got hooked onto 6 months or so ago, mainly because she is also a writer, about my age- yeah, the commonalities end there. She lives on the other side of the Indian border, and I was surprised to note that the ethos around both countries is still the same even after so many years of war and neck-breaking at the cricket-pitch. She mainly, and mostly rants, with some few sparks of joy and hope which flicker brightly for a post or two and are promptly sooted with sadness. I didn't quite mind it, since she spoke [note the reference to past tense here] her mind, teasing the readers often with her unrevealed identity. She boasted of her popularity on some posts, amusing me further. But then this happened --

"I don’t want my blog to be popular anymore"
Blasphemy in Bloggy-world
"about the password thing…..hit me an email for a reply with the password. pls dont mind if u dont get all of them though. as i mentioned earlier - there are some which i like to keep for myself only."
Snooty Boots! If you want to keep the stuff to yourself then get yourself a journal! We [speaking for all the other readers] care only for my entertainment. Your ranting is supposed to give me solace that someone else's life sucks more than mine. If I want to read movie reviews there are 'expert opinion' available elsewhere.
"it’s no longer flattering to learn how this blog has been entertaining many (silent) readers out there - in fact, it has become freaky."
Dude, you need your head examined if you think every person who drops by your blog will leave a comment.

"...contemplating to pull the plug off my blog"Someone suggested "...go for a cyber suicide""I don’t do suicide ideas – virtual or otherwise. Case closed.

"...there is no way in blog hell I will ever kill my blogging."

Looks like a case of 'want to eat her cake and keep it too.'
"As much as it would make great blog reading, I’m not going to indulge in the details – one, coz I just don’t have the temperament to do a re-run of all the unpleasantness, and two…..I no longer fancy others having a peek into the little details of my existence."
You don't wish to entertain me? Fine, I am going somewhere else! Another blog hit the 'Unsubscribe' button.

Inspiration

I am positively over weight. And I adamantly refuse to do anything about it. I am coaxed, cajoled, nagged, even threatened by various friends and family members to shed the extra kilos. For what sake? So your clothes will fit you, you will be healthy, and you can get married.Yea right!
However, I smiled, and felt like taking some action after reading this is in a blog:

WHY should you bother?
Well it’s really simple. By looking better, you also get more lovable. People like someone who looks good. You can fight society or choose to be come a part of it. Your body is this interface that you carry around and it represents YOU. Whatever you do, it’s you. It’s time to take a hard look in the mirror and face the fact that you need to be living in society as a part of it. A leaner body will also increase your confidence and therefor your chances of success in whatever you’re trying to achieve. And finally, you will feel better.

Don't take me too seriously on this one, and don't hold me at gun point. I make no promises to actually rid myself of inaction; I merely said 'felt like taking action'.:D

Hail Orkut!

Orkut is the most entertaining medium of our times. I have seen forwards of people who compile classified ads from newspaper (so passe, dahling). With Orkut, they land & park themselves comfortably in your private space. After a dull workday, one request for 'add as a friend' brought ripples of laughter to my otherwise mundane existence. These moments of entertainment have been provided courtesy cute guy from whose Orkut page I picked it up who says 'i entertain ppl , mk them laugh'. I agree completely, but sorry, we still can't be friends.

about me:
M dwn 2 earth, cooooool, n mst spl thing abt me iz dat i value relations a lot. coz i blv that this is the only thing that mk life b'ful in 2dayz wrld of materialism. (but I am a material girl) mmm i lv my family, means my parents, my sis n my frndz a lot. m God fearing n lv God a lot. n i lv GIRLS , WOW. BEAUTIFUL GIRLz.....M rocking, happening n fun lving guy. i entertain ppl , mk them laugh . hay dn't think m a clown ppl even say that m the bst of frnd coz i heal their pain (doctor, cure the sick) n solve their prbs. they lv me u knw. hay hay hay they say that k...m boy of mind bt h8 books (requires no genius to figure that u ain't read any since kindergarten) a lot a lot a lot. yuk. i lv nature n beauty. that why i lv grls Godz mst naturally beautiful creation. bt plz grls avoid mk up u dn't need that...i do mimicary, face reading, prediction n splz in zodiac signz.. (what has one got to do with the other? maybe the layers of makeup interefere in his predictions) i m jack of all trades.in my twn m knwn 4 computers, bikes n mobile knwldge. u can say..mmmm encyclopedia.(now tht explains y he doesn't need to read books) thats the right wrd. i lv my bike n my bike lve grlz scootyz.....k i knw i wrote a lot that jst coz i blv to knw each oder. k rest v'll knw l8r.......rmbr i luv grlz.........hay plz dn't tk it wrng i respect wmn.......b4 u say let me say , yes i hv sisters n mom......(damn, now i can't even abuse him with - 'ghar pe maa, behen nahi hai kya' - smarty pants has thought through it all)

Oh, and I checked his list of friends, to chk wot my competition wld hv been like ;)  - and i got nervous with the competition - it was ALL girls. I am sure they all fell for him and his ideals after reading his 'ideal match' details, which goes like this:

ideal match: a girl of high mantality and of moral thinking..advance(like a P4, with Windows Vista installed?)...and with gud appereance(i mean slim, nothing else)....i like inner beauty..(but won't there be very lil inner beauty if there is so lil of her?) the beauty of mind..must be very caring and understanding, well mannered and quite kiddish(where shld the manners end & kiddishness begin - in front of parents, or in bed? I foresee in problem in both places)..also know how to feel the joy and know the art of life (I am so out of this race. I knew I shld hv fallen at the feet of Sri Sri Sri when I had the chance)..quite emmotional as well as strong who can also run with present time(cunning! just in case ur waist line passed the test...he wants you to be a fit athelete too).who feel when i ignore her..one who feel jalous when i will with my friends..but also understanding(Hindi movie ishtyle)....one who will not only shares her life with me..her soul also(this is a cool idea. then both can exchange notes on whose body feels better to live in. Do dil, ek jaan types)...one who know what is romance and we live each moment as the best moment of our life....one who tell me everything without thinking anything(anyone upto the challenge? he surely has written everything without thinking anything. who can match up with his wits?! a toughie)..one who's mine and i m her mirror to see one soul..our soul......(hahahaha! no comments)

This one I think is a mind-blowing and very deep answer - the most obvious, yet so orignal!
first thing you will notice about me: it depends on ur point of view

I was completely shattered and heartbroken after I read this. It means we will never go for a date...
my idea of a perfect first date: long ,b'ful path holding hands,(my hands have not been trained to hold paths) walking n talking. wow....hhhmmmm i m waiting for this moment bt jst wid the 1 i'll lv n who'll lv me. true lv.i cn wait for my true lv rather being on my dream date(I'm kinda mixed up here. How r both of you to knw tht this is 'the date', and fall simultaneously in love with each other? I don't understand, but I'm sure you have it all figured out to the 'T') wid sm altu faltu. i dn't want to waste this feeling on sm altu faltu grl.

from my past relationships i learned: a lot i lrnd. 1st v shud wait for 1 who z understanding(but how do I know the person is understanding w/o being in a relationship), 4 u spl its nt ncsry if sm1 z understanding to oderz she wud understand u 2(aah! so will hv to try n try till u succeed. no shortcuts here, eh?). 2nd find 1 wid gud mental level i mean that matches ur mental level (= some1 who hsn't read a book since kindergarten). lv only is nt enf to lead a happy n successful relation. u need lot lot more things. every1 is wrthy lv bt not for being life partner.lv no doubt is imp. bt rest thing i mentioned r also imp..(don't cheat now, u slyly glassed over the other imp points. now i will never find a partner with these incomplete instructions) i knw no1 decide b4 falling in lv it jst happens bt 1 cn think b4 being in a relation. precaution is btr than cure(isn't tht 'prevention is better than cure'?oh of course, use precautions, otherwise doomed).so tk a lot of careits imp dcsn. jst bcz u lv sm1z looks, or personalty or class or any external thing is not smthing that can let u fall in lv wid him/her. frndz blv me (i love his earnestness. yes dear, i believe you). i hv seen many brkn hrts whoever cheats mistake is frm both sides.relation z smthing needs to b handled carefully.n one more thig jst dn't live a relation for the sake u commited once. no if u feel its nt wrking leave it. or if u feel ur partner is nt happy wid u let him/her go . u cn't bound sm1 2 lv u. jst undrstnd oderz dcsn n respc (aye aye sir!)

I SO want to add him to my orkut friend-list. Imagine the entertainement center my Scrapbook will become. But mind tuggingly refuses request of heart...

Got a Name in Common

Isn't this cool!? My blog actually shares a name common with a film. I was going through another blog which reviewed Joox as a better counterpart of Joost, which is to revolutionise the way we watch TV by bringing all online; yet another reason for me to keep my fingers glued onto my laptop. The movie, Bheja Fry is a Bollywood flick with my once-I-had-hots-for actor Rajat Kapoor of Monsoon Wedding fame. As the movie edged out of the first 10 minutes, I wondered if my blog came first, or the movie. And then Friesha, a class-mate from college made a rather 'out-of-tune' entry in the role of a wannabe-singer. Cool she looks, not very different from what I remember last of her 5 years ago.
The movie, has not managed to fry my bheja as well as the meanderings of my blog does. Guess the producer never contemplated competition from a scatter brain.
