O-just maadi!

One hour every morning, I spend in the red BEST bus to traverse from home to office in one piece, without the pushing and prodding of local trains.
Over the months, one bus conductor has stayed constant through these journeys, save holidays
when temps fill in. Out of the thousand odd bus journeys I have taken in my short life, have not witnessed a conductor more rude than this guy. Only does the bus stop if the person who wants
to board hails it with his hand, waving frantically and practically stands in way of the bus.
Otherwise, this guy just pulls the rope tied to the bell, and off we go all the way. Often, I watch people running to catch the bus; instead of diligently serving people, all it does is inconveniences. Of common knowledge is the fact that BEST pays them an extra sum for being on time, but how efficient is this service which can't be availed?Only yesterday, a guy climbed in, and asked for a Rs 3 ticket, offering a Rs 10 note. Over time, I have taken change from this bus conductor several times, so I know that he had the money.
Offensive that he is, he was in a mood to wield some power, and demanded that the man step down from the bus. Opposing words were exchanged in the argument that ensued, and the passanger demanded that this unruly attitude be taken up to the police station which was (conveniently) enroute. Onboard passengers silently witnessed the drama, as the man alighted to enter the police station, and the driver killed the engine. Only worry was - will I reach office on time - as I looked at my watch-bereft wrist. Our conductor waited for about ten seconds and then asked the driver to continue the journey.Over, if you think, this was not!On our tail, the man pursued in a taxi and the bus came to a screeching halt as the taxi sharply cut and halted before the BEST. Out jumped the man, and started a verbal downpour of local revilement. Off he was pushed, and the bus continued its meanderings through the tar ribbons of the city.
